Dennis Franklin Murphy

January 8, 1944—March 31, 2020

Dennis was born on Jan. 8, 1944 in Chadron, Nebraska to Lucille E. (Whitley) and Lester James Murphy.

Dennis received his education at Nebraska School for the Deaf at a young age then attended public school.  He attended high school at Nebraska School for the Deaf till the end of his junior year.  His parents moved to South Dakota.  He graduated from the South Dakota School for the Deaf in 1962.  After high school he attended the Gallaudet College (now University), the only college for the deaf in Washington, DC that time.   He later received his associate degree in graphic arts and offset press in 1989 in Pocatello, Idaho.

Dennis cherished his time with his grandson Owen.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Wava Murphy, two brothers Ken (Linda) Murphy, Rapid City, S.D., Mike (Sheryl) Homan, Papillion, NE., his children (Kevin, Lester, Shanna) and his step-daughter (Jennifer Marchese).  He also is survived by four other grandchildren (Adam, Mark, Jennifer, Stephanie); step grandchildren (Billy, Sarah, Katie, and Topher).  Also survived by other numerous great-grandchildren.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents and two children.

There are not any services scheduled at this time for Dennis.
