Kurtis "Kurt" Howard Knox

January 7, 1949--August 12, 2018

Kurtis "Kurt" Howard Knox, 69 of Glenwood, formerly of Treynor, passed away Aug. 12, 2018, in Council Bluffs. He was born Jan. 7, 1949, in Council Bluffs, to Howard and Darleen (Schnepel) Knox.

Kurt was raised in Treynor. Following high school, he attended Dana College where he earned his B.A. in Social Work. He attained his master's degree from U.N.O. Kurt taught at Iowa School for the Deaf for 19 years and retired from his teaching career in Special Education at the Glenwood Middle School in 2013.

He loved maintaining his yard and was a skilled carpenter by building decks and various other projects.

Preceding Kurt in passing were his parents. Survivors include his wife, Diane Knox of Glenwood; children, Christopher Knox of Council Bluffs; Timothy Knox of La Vista, Neb.; Dodd (Jill) Severn of Glenwood; Brooke (Clay) Lincoln of Glenwood; grandchildren, Jacob, Bree, Adam and Maddie Severn, Preston, Collin and Hallee Lincoln; sister, Carole (Jim) Watt of La Palma, Calif.; nephews, Jim Watt and Jason Watt as well as many friends.

Celebration of Life Services were Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, at 4 p.m. at Peterson Mortuary.
Interment to be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Glenwood Public Library.
