"Concerned with the General Welfare of the Deaf of Iowa"

Sharon Lee Kerr (Lachman)

June 22, 1940 – September 16, 2018

Sharon Kerr, Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, retired US West associate and loyal Rockies fan passed away from complications of congestive heart failure on Sunday, September 16th, 2018.

She was born on June 22nd 1940, to Chester and Etta Lachman in Chicago, Illinois. Sharon was raised in St. Louis, Missouri.  She met her future husband, George Bryce Kerr at Missouri School for the Deaf in Fulton Missouri.  Soon after starting their family, they moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa where Bryce took a teaching position at Iowa School for the Deaf.  Sharon was an excellent provider and worked for various companies in Omaha, Nebraska.  She was a valued and honored employee at US West where she worked until retirement.

Of all her positions and stations in life Sharon was best and most content at being a mother.  No matter the event or the outcome she never missed an opportunity to tell her children how proud she was of them, how much she loved them and that they could never be replaced.

Sharon moved to Colorado in 2006 to be closer to her children and grandchildren.  Sharon also enjoyed being with her family and traveling including to deaf conferences with her many good friends across the country in the deaf community.

She is survived by her daughter Vicki Kerr and her husband Stephen Ramsey of Denver, son Rick Kerr and his wife Kara, and two grandchildren, Riley Kerr and Amanda Kerr all of Denver, Colorado.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am, Thursday, October 11th, 2018 at Renewal Lutheran Church at 3120 Irving Street, Denver, CO 80211.

In lieu of flowers Sharon would no doubt be pleased by donations to Iowa Association of the Deaf, President:  Shirley Hampton, 5124 Coventry Ct., Davenport, IA  52807

Thanks to Vicki and Rick Kerr for the information.
