William Ray Hendricks

November 25, 1940--November 13, 2018

William Ray Hendricks. Sr. passed away on Tuesday, November the 13th, at the age of 77 years.

Ray will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Rosemary, and his children. Ross (Julia) Hendricks, Jeffrey Hendriks and William Hendricks, Jr., his granddaughter Kristina (Chris) Bolton, step-granddaughters Ashli and Réchal Foster, great-granddaughter Kennedy Bolton, sister Connie (James) Hoskins and step-mother Virginia Hendricks.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lorraine (Anderson), and father, William A. Hendricks.

Ray was born November 25th, 1940, on the Anderson Family Farm in Cedar County, Iowa. He had a beloved pet raccoon and was a pet lover in general. He graduated from the Iowa School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1959.  He was the star quarterback on the school football team and was also involved in wrestling and track.  He married Rosemary (Kirsch) February 1st, 1969, in Davenport, Iowa.  He worked at Caterpillar until its closing and retired from the Rock Island Arsenal as a toolmaker August 1st, 2012. He was active in his church, Crossroads Independent Baptist Church.  He enjoyed fishing, boating, snowmobiling, playing golf, Minnesota Viking Football, Mexican and Italian food and visiting with family.  He was a fun-loving jokester that loved to razz and tease, especially his children, grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

A celebration of life was held at Crossroads Independent Baptist Church on Sunday, November 18th, at 1 p.m. Donations in memorial of Ray may be made to Gateway for Cancer Research 500 East Remington Road Schaumburg, Illinois 60173.
