Emma E. Goodin, age 101, of Council Bluffs, passed away June 23, 2022 at Bethany Lutheran Home.

Emma was born January 20, 1921 in Deshler, Nebraska to the late Jacob and Maria S. “Mary” (Mussmann) Rentschler, Jr. She graduated from Nebraska School for the Deaf. Emma married Everett Goodin on November 15, 1941 in Papillion, Nebraska. They were blessed with son, Eugene. Emma worked as a seamstress for Pendleton Woolen Mills for many years. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Omaha and the CB Silent Club.

In addition to her parents, Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Everett in 1987 and 9 siblings. Emma is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Jan Goodin of Council Bluffs; 4 grandchildren, Julia (Dennis) Damewood, Laura (Scott) Barrett, Brad (Lindsay) Goodin, and Cindy Goodin, 4 great-grandchildren, Lynn Farrell, Andrew “Drew” Goodin, Alex Barrett, and Adam Barrett, 4 great-great grandchildren, Gaven, Ivy and Everett Farrell and Freya Goodin; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family, Sunday, 5-7 p.m. at Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral service, Monday, 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery with a lunch following at the Walnut Hill Reception Center, 1350 E. Pierce St. Memorials are suggested to Bethany Lutheran Home or Deaf Child Hope International.
