Alice (Golda) Gilbert

February 1, 1938—December 6, 2021

Alice L. Gilbert age 83 of Springfield, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021 at her home in Springfield, Nebraska.  She was born on February 1, 1938 in Gretna, Nebraska to Miles and Ruth (Sack) Golda. 

She graduated from the Nebraska School of the Deaf with the Class of 1957.  She and Leon L. Gilbert were married on August 16, 1958 in Omaha, Nebraska.  Together they raised three children, Debbie, Patti and Ricky.

She was a lifelong Sarpy County resident.  Alice was an avid baker and enjoyed sharing her talents with family and friends.  She was a longtime member of the Omaha Association of the Deaf (DAD) and the Hillbillies Camping Club. 

She is survived by her children, Debbie (Doug) Holle, Patti Butts, Ricky (Michele) Gilbert, 9 Grandchildren, 13 Great-Grandchildren, 3 sisters-in-law, 1 brother-in-law and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Gilbert, parents, Ruth and Miles Golda, brothers, Larry and Ernie Golda, son-in-law, Chuck Butts.

A celebration of Alice’s life will be on Thursday, December 9, 2021 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM (food served at 4:30 PM) at the Springfield Community Building, 104 Main St., Springfield, NE. 

Memorials may be directed to the family to be distributed according to Alice’s wishes.
