Ronald Eugene Braby

Ronald Eugene Braby, age 65, of Osceola, Iowa was born to parents Glen Eugene and Roberta Glee (McCullough) Braby, on October 4, 1950, in Leon, Iowa. He passed from this life on April 16, 2016, at his home.
Ronnie became deaf as an infant. When the family lived in Oakland, California, Ronnie attended regular school. After moving back to Iowa, he started junior high school at the Iowa School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He graduated in 1970. He worked for Goodwill Industries. Later he occupied his days with volunteer work. He blew the noon whistle for Garden Grove and helped the Iowa Southern Trolley and the Department of Motor Vehicles when they were in Leon.
While Ronnie was growing up, the family had three German Shepherd dogs, Missy, Dutchess, and Smokey, who was deaf. Ronnie trained the dogs to do many things.
Ronnie was baptized into the Independent Bible Church of Leon, Iowa on May 29, 1983. His interests and hobbies included building his relationship with the Lord, both at church and in home studies, doing community volunteering, and sending, receiving, and keeping cards. He enjoyed fishing, playing cribbage with friends and in tournaments, and collecting lighthouse and dog figurines. His favorite pastime was teasing people.
His parents, grandparents and numerous other family members and friends have awaited this day for their blessed reunion with Ronnie. He goes to Heaven to prepare a place for his brother, Rus Braby and wife, Kim, and sister, Sherry Burke and husband, Rick, all of Osceola, Iowa; niece Lori & Ach Bleakley, great nephews, Jamie Wilkinson and Achie Bleakley, and great niece Kimmie Bleakley, all from Wichita, Kansas, and niece Rylie Burke of Osceola; many additional family members through birth and marriage, as well as many friends he thought of as family.
Memorial services was held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2016, with Pastor Brian Hardee officiating. Burial was held in the Garden Grove Cemetery, Garden Grove, Iowa.
